The Story of Swan Lake Tulsa ðŸĶĒ | History, Homes & Why Everyone Loves It

  If you’ve ever driven through Swan Lake and thought, “Why does this place feel so different?” — there’s actually a pretty incredible story behind it. I walked the neighborhood with Randi Wright from Cityscape Home Mortgage, and we broke down not just the homes and prices—but the history that makes this one of the most iconic areas in Tulsa. Here’s something most people don’t know… Before Swan Lake became the neighborhood we know today, it actually started as a lakeside amusement park back in the early 1900s—complete with boat rides, a dance pavilion, and even a small zoo. It was owned by Samuel Augustus “Gus” Orcutt and connected to Tulsa by trolley lines. Then in 1917, everything changed. A developer purchased the land, renamed it Swan Lake, and donated the lake itself to the city, turning it into the public park that still anchors the neighborhood today.
